What is an 'activity'?

Through our research, we have identified 5 ‘activity’ types relating to an individual’s employment and income history which may require verification by our clients. An ‘activity’ is simply something that the individual was doing over a period of time. We solve for the most common activity types - Current employment, current income, historical employment, and gaps in employment.

As a rule of thumb, we see on average 1 activity for every 1 year of work history.

When is an activity chargeable?

An Activity is chargeable when it has been Verified through Konfir. You’ll see these activities labelled as ‘Konfir Verified’. The data sources we connect to using the candidate’s consent may include Open Banking, HMRC and Payroll systems.

Sometimes, applicants will use multiple sources to verify a single activity. Where this is the case, we still only charge once for the single Verification of that activity.

It’s also possible that an Activity cannot be automatically verified through Konfir, but some potentially useful data has nonetheless been found for an Activity period (for example, frequent income transactions). Where this is the case, you’ll see these activities labelled as ‘Connected’. If we can’t find any relevant data at all for an activity you will see “Not Connected’

We do not charge for activities that are ‘Connected’ or ‘Not Connected’.

What activities does Konfir cover?

In the infographic below, you can see the distribution of activities across the UK on the left.

Current & Historical Employments

We use Payroll, HMRC and/or Open Banking integrations to return data including the applicant’s Employer Name, start and end dates, and job title.

Gaps in Employment (and Alternative Income)

We use some of our data sources to return alternative income insights to ensure you can confirm what the applicant was doing, or what they were earning from non-employment sources.
